London Museum at Smithfield

London Museum at Smithfield · project visualisation

The relocation of the London Museum into the long-derelict Victorian General Market and adjacent buildings at West Smithfield. The £437m project involved converting the Grade II listed market halls and below-ground spaces into a new free museum, with a phased opening planned from 2026.

Wentworth provided structural design and construction engineering within Keltbray’s transformation of the historic market buildings. Understanding how different structural materials behaved together was central to our engagement, enabling carefully sequenced alterations that reconciled the new museum with the fabric being retained.
