Thames Tideway Tunnel – East section

Thames Tideway Tunnel – East section · project photograph

The scope of the Thames Tideway Tunnel project was to upgrade London’s 150-year-old combined sewage system. This involved the construction of a new 25km long tunnel crossing West to East London, in order to intercept and divert the raw sewage away from the river. The tunnel works stretched across the capital from Acton in the west to Abbey Mills in the east, where the Thames Tideway Tunnel connected to the Lee Tunnel reaching Beckton.

Wentworth worked alongside CVB JV for a decade, providing geotechnical and construction engineering across six Tideway East sites. Our understanding of the ground, existing infrastructure and evolving works helped the delivery team respond to the different constraints of each location.
