STRUCTURAL TESTING
Wentworth Technical Services delivers on-site structural testing to verify capacity, confirm compliance and de-risk change of use of structures. We undertake slab load testing, anchor and fixing tests, geotechnical testing, lift/runway beam testing, and safety testing of balconies and barriers to the relevant British Standards and CFA guidance, providing certified results and clear engineering reports.
Load capacity testing
Load capacity testingWe design and implement load tests on ground-bearing and suspended slabs to verify safe operation, confirm new loading (e.g., plant, mezzanines) or support demolition sequencing. Testing at serviceability or to failure is selected to suit the question and risk profile, often achieving higher load ratings than calculations alone. Deliverables include load-deflection data and a compliance statement.
Anchor and fixing tests
We test all common fixing types (threaded bar, reinforcement, chemical/mechanical anchors, cast-ins, scaffold ties, holding-down bolts) in both tensile and shear, from small screws to high-tonnage assemblies. All testing follows BS 8539:2012 and CFA Guidance Note 2023; our technicians are CFA-accredited for both installation and testing. Proof testing and determination of allowable resistance are available.
Geotechnical testing
Wentworth Technical Services offers a comprehensive range of geotechnical testing services for soils, sub-grades, and other ground materials. All in-situ testing is conducted in accordance with BS 1377-9:1990, ensuring compliance with industry standards and delivering reliable, certifiable results. These tests include; Plate Bearing Tests, Light Drop-Weight Tests, Shear Vane Tests, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP) Tests and Mackintosh Probe Testing.
Lift beam, runway beams testing
We test lift beams, runway beams, gantries, jibs and davits in accordance with BS 2853 and LOLER, marking and certifying equipment or quarantining for remediation. We have a range of equipment and methodologies to suit all types of load testing on beams.
Load testing on balconies, balustrades and barriers
We provide comprehensive load testing services to ensure the safety, compliance, and performance of balconies, balustrades, and barriers across all building types including sports stadium. We are equipped to conduct a full range of on-site load tests in line with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and industry regulations.
